Talk! with Marie Presents Fantasy Faire Second Life, Janis Ian's The Tiny Mouse & Brain Pickings's Children Books

Listen in to this week's Talk! with Marie show where I talk about books, music and current events in SL with a surprise guest. This is the final week of National Poetry Month. I've been trying to attend at least one literary event in the greater Boston area. I attended a reading by Author Maxine Hong Kingston. Today's show focuses on Janis Ian's The Tiny Mouse, Fantasy Faire in SL, Brain Pickings's list of 15 children's books & Jordan Reyne's Music. I'm co-hosting a two-hour poetry event with a fellow writer at Fantasy Faire. 

Poetry at Fantasy Faire, April 23-May 3

Fantasy Faire is the largest gathering of fantasy designers, enthusiasts, roleplayers and performers in the virtual world. From Thursday, April 23 to Sunday May 3, treat yourself to eleven days of shopping, live music concerts, auctions, hunts, events and roleplaying as thousands of  residents and creators bring their own visions together to support the American Cancer Society.

Poet Karima Hoisan Live at Four Bridges/SpeakEasy, April 28, noon slt!

In celebration of the second anniversary of our Open Mic Reading & Live Music, I am excited to announce that Karima Hoisan, one of my favorite artists in Second Life will be featured at Four Bridges on Sunday, April 28 at noon slt. Karima is an exceptional person with a well of talents. She always lifts my spirit when I hear her read and share her art with an audience. If you've never experience her poetry, I highly recommend you stop by early and grab a chair. We'll kick off our open mic reading at 11a slt and then Karima will take the stage. Senseless by RedGoddess (Day 16 NAPOWRIMO Poetry)

My beloved city of Boston is in mourning this week after the bombings at the Marathon on Monday, April 15. My thoughts are with all those affected by this horrific inhumane act. Although I wrote this piece today, I'm still in shock and cannot make sense of what took place right in my backyard. Thank you for the outpouring of love from friends close and far:)

A revered day

with promise

of innocence

excitement

victory

celebrated
finale

Our world

rumbles

trembles

crumbles

collapses

in seconds

darkness
in bright 

daylight

A new day

vanished in 

fumes

peace in disarray

witnessing horror

steps away

from childhood

Memories

Wild Wind

A tug of war
between seasons
wind bullying
walkers
into runners
hair
flying like weeds
umbrellas transform
into daggers
no escape
the wind goddesses
unleash
their madness
on spring's serenity
